Sister Elise Corriveau CND
I was born in Zurich, Ontario, to parents Willard Corriveau and Marie LaPorte. I have 2 brothers, Raymond and Gerard.
Baptized in St. Boniface Church.
Went to Zurich Public School for 1st to 8th grade.
As I was a sickly child I did not go to high school.
In 1956 at the age of 18, I entered the Oblate Missionaries at Cap De La Madeleine near Trois Rivières, which was a secular Institute.
I was sent to Mont Laurier Quebec to an Agricultural School, where I was sent to cook, but only stayed 10 months, as I was asked to go to Lowell Massachusetts, U.S.A. where I did cooking as well with a group of students.
I made my first vows on Feb. 17, 1958.
1957 - 1961 I was in Lowell Massachusetts
1961 - 1965 Madawaska, Maine
1965 - 1967 Lowell Massachusetts cooking
1967 - 1973 Cooking for Queen of Apostles Retreat Centre in Mississauga
1973 - 1978 Cooked for Redemption students
1978 - 1979 Left the Oblate Missionaries and entered the Congregation of Notre Dame
1980 - 1981 I made my first vows
1983 Ottawa for the Sisters & Provincialate
1985 I made final vows in the Congregation
1983 - 1989 Pierrefonds Quebec responsible for cooking for our elderly sisters and we had a retreat house
1989 Transferred to Toronto Sabbatical because of sickness
1990 - 1993 Ukranian Redemptorist as a cook
1993 - 1997 St. Brigid's Convent as a cook
1997 - 2011 Cooked for St. Brigid's Rectory Augustians
2011 - 2013 Notre Dame Convent and semi-retired. Startd to visit shut-ins and bring communion to people in St. Brigid's Parish
2013 - 2017 Moved to Retirement place with 5 of the Congregation to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Toronto
I still visit the sick at St. Brigid's Parish and last summer was asked to be on the Pastoral team here at the Residence. I am also sacristan here 3 - 4 days a week.
